note: | The new Savage Norden. Two years of hard work, more than 20 years of specific experience in this sector, were used in this new project. This new aircraft represents the sum of our vision, expectations, needs of customers and trends from the STOL market. Design and elegance, innovations and safety, aerodynamics and performance, improved ergonomics and new load capacity, reliability and strength, functionality and desire for new adventures, we all hope, well mixed.
The aircraft is 703 cm long, 223 cm high (or more depending on deck size) and has a wingspan of 903 cm. The empty weight is less than 360 kg and will be available in the future as LSA in the US and other countries, and as ULM in Europe (into the new Ultralight 600 kg class). A brand new and larger hull, with new stabilizer / rudder profiles (fins now has ribs to increase efficiency and stability), for the first time matched with a brand new metal wing with traditional spars and more advanced airfoil, equipped with oversized electric retractable slats and manually operated double slotted flaps will ensure excellent performance in both cruise and landing. The new wing tips were designed to aid the ailerons efficiency at low speed and to increase aerodynamic efficiency at cruise or top speed.
The strength of the new metal wing, is designed for 800 kg MTOW, the slats and low landing speeds are ensured by the large double slotted flaps (which even create enough pitch moment to increase front visibility). This will improve the safety factor of the pilots during STOL operations. The wing struts have been redesigned with new stronger and separate connections to the fuselage. Fuel tanks will be available in 3 sizes: 100, 140 and up to 180 ltr and, along with a higher speed, will offer an extended range for your longer trips. A new fuel indicator system will warn you just in case and prevent any risk in this area.
A very large optional cargo area, fully carbon made, with an external access door, with the option of expanding it even further, allowing a pilot to sleep inside the aircraft will open a new opportunity for our Savage owners if necessary. A fully revised cabin ergonomics with new easier accessibility for both pilots with the larger door in the category and a greater distance between the two seats will offer a new dimension of comfort inside the cabin. New "adjustable" carbon seats matched with premium leather, available in 18 different colours, will add a new look to the interior and a new comfort for longer trips.
New rudder pedals ensure better ground control in all conditions. The even bigger ailerons are now controlled wings, giving more accurate feedback to the pilots. The flaps are now controlled by a torsional tube and push pull rods.
An important goal for Zlin Aviation has been to try to increase the forward visibility for pilots during STOL operations. The front windshield is now more angled (to also reduce the amount of drag at higher cruising speeds) and our new instrument panel, compact but elegant, has been designed to achieve this target. We also wanted to be innovative from the design point of view, and this new instrument panel can in fact be customized, according to customer wishes.
The new optional dual caliper brake system is more than enough to handle full power coming from a Rotax 915. The main landing gear is now extended and reinforced by 3 "(standard) and has a different design. It has also been moved more forward, allowing pilots to brake even harder when necessary. The standard tail wheel can now be upgraded to T3 tailwheel suspension system or even Acme Stinger. The standard bungee system can be upgraded with a custom made shock absorber system produced by one our dealer, or even with a new professional Acme Shock PRO Series system designed for tough operations.
The new cowling design is sleek and streamlined, allowing the faster cruise speed planned for this plane, but big enough to offer plenty of space for engine installation, due to our new rounded bowl and firewall area, which gives more presence and elegance to the entire front area of the plane. The basic engine for the aircraft will be the Rotax 100 hp, but during 2021 it will also be able to hold the power coming from the new Edge Performance EPEX300TI (300 hp). |
